The use and the effectiveness of TAAP Online continue to grow. This growth corresponds to the access that both members and chairs in the TAAP network have to email and the use of the internet. A majority of members of the network are "wired." TAAP Online has increased the speed with which information moves to and from TAAP members. The goal of TAAP Online is to continue to improve the success, efficiency and capability of the TAAP network in support of the admissions effort. We are pleased with the success of the electronic system and the important improvements it has brought. The suggestions and encouragement of TAAP members have been very helpful in the effectiveness of this system and we are encouraged by the fact that most members have moved to TAAP Online. Until all TAAP members are using TAAP Online, paper will be available where it is needed. We now are increasing the use of this online capability to further improve communication. TAAP News now will be available electronically, and subscriptions to ENews, Tufts electronic news, have been provided to help members with current news about the university.


Each chair has the ability to view the list of his or her committee members at any time on the site, and can email them as a group or as individuals. Every TAAP member is strongly encouraged to maintain up-to-date contact information on the site. Login to TAAP Online at http://taap.tufts.edu/taaponline and use the Edit Personal Information function found in the column on the left side. Having correct
contact information is important to the success of the system.


What are the benefits of using the online system? When an entire committee is operating electronically, lag time and effort are reduced dramatically. Chairs are able to access the site as often as they like and keep the assignment process moving. All transactions are in real-time so you will receive assignments, and be prompted by email notifications, the moment they are made electronically. Your reports are reflected in our system and available to officers and chairs as soon as they are submitted.


For committees which have not switched over entirely, continued dependence on paper system may slow the process. It is possible to use the site even if your committee chair is not. Every interview assignment goes first to the chair. If the assignment is made by paper, the assignment sheet is returned to Bendetson Hall, and
entered immediately so that the information is available electronically. Once the assignment reaches the admissions office by mail or is assigned electronically by the chair, the member can perform all functions electronically-print the interview form and return the interview report electronically. If the chair is not using the site, the TAAP member will need to mail a copy of the report to the chair.


For those of you who have not yet used TAAP Online we encourage you to try it. The user name and password that you will need are provided in the October welcome letter.
