More Changes Around the Admissions Office

Beyond Allan Clemow’s retirement, there are many exciting changes to the admissions staff this summer.

Susan Garrity Ardizzoni was appointed to Director of Admissions, where she will draw on her experience in admissions at Allegheny College, Yale University and here at Tufts. This role includes management of publications and communications, direction of application processing and its related administrative and database functions, and supervision of multiple staff members.

Darryl Tiggle, Associate Director of Admissions, will succeed Susan as coordinator ofTufts Alumni Admissions Program policy, outreach, administration and program design. Darryl will continue to direct Tufts diversity recruitment and outreach.

This summer the Admissions Office will welcome two staff members to our team; Walker Coppedge as Associate Director of Enrollment for Access & Retention and Adam Goodman as an Assistant Director of Admissions.

Walker recently graduated from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education with a Master’s degree in school leadership. While at Harvard, he interned at Tufts as an application reader in the admissions office and completed research focused on the structural barriers that prevent colleges like Tufts from accepting students from urban schools as well as retention strategies institutions can implement to guide urban students through the college transition process. Before enrolling at Harvard last fall, he completed a highly-successful, eight-year tenure at Epiphany School in Dorchester, where he was one of the founding administrators at this middle school that serves students from low socioeconomic backgrounds. At Tufts, he will design new outreach strategies for students from urban schools, with an initial emphasis on Boston, Cambridge, Somerville and Medford.  Walker will cultivate college awareness among middle school and early high school-age students; partner with Tisch College on related access initiatives; and collaborate with members of our Education Department on their school outreach work.

Adam Goodman rejoins the admissions office as an Assistant Director after spending the last year as a high school teacher at a charter school in South Texas.  Adam, a graduate of Tufts and former officer here in Bendetson, will utilize his recent experience in secondary education to enhance and expand our diversity outreach. Drawing on his year as a TAAP Chair, Adam will also assume the day-to-day coordination of the program; the planning and implementation of TAAP events; partnering with the Alumni Office; initiating an outreach program to Tufts alumni who work as high school teachers; and expanding our volunteers of color in key cities across the country. Adam joins us in August.
